Send Me Mojo Vibes!

Oh that back and forth... I don't want to just be blurting out what I'm going for because I worry about jinxing it. But I also want the collective positive thoughts of everyone going towards this!!

Okay, and I also hate the thought of putting it out there that I'm going for something and then it being known if I don't get it.

So the quick of it is, I've just applied for THE JOB. As some of you know, this is a term position I'm in right now. It ends in August. This other job (actually there are five within this area and I've applied for all of them, but I digress) is so much more ME. SO MUCH!

And now I wait. The CV is in, the letters read and reread. The references lined up. GO TEAM DREAM JOB!

I need a nap. Oh, and I have a cold. I hoped it was just allergies earlier, but it is a cold. Stupid cold.

What I did today!

And when I'm outside planting flowers, what does Chuck do?

Why this, of course:

And then other times he just stares.

A very lovely day!

Pondering - Okay, a rant.

Does it really take all that much longer to type out the a and e in "are"? And the word "you" - I hadn't known the Y and O were so very very troublesome; they are so troublesome they must also be left out of your.

Let's not get started on the Shift Key. Oh that pinky finger, having to work so hard.

I have people mail me at work, asking for my help, who are unable to type out the full words necessary to get that help. I have students wanting to email me their completed assignments with all those pesky words written in full, but the accompanying email devoid of capitol letters or punctuation.

Why, I ask you. WHY???

When people send me email or post on a forum in such a manner, I assume they are either borderline simple or extremely lazy. And not the good lazy. The sloppy lazy.

[/end rant]

Random Stuff

I graduate tomorrow. I mean, I'm so done and far away from what all finished in July of last year - but tomorrow I put on the do and walk across the stage. Yay me!

I have just finished my lunch that Leone was kind enough to make for me (probably feeling bad for my pouty face as Jim is no longer here making me breakfast and lunch). But I've just finished it. And it is 11:34. And I'm here until 9pm tonight. Okay, so I have my 'dinner' still here too - but it will be tough to make it stretch that far. Thanks to Yonners for the food, though.

I teach tonight and after this I have four more classes to go. I am LOVING the teaching, but certainly finding it a challenge for my time right now with everything else. I hope this weekend to get some good marking done and start putting together the final exam. I think my class is going really well. I think people are enjoying it and learning lots.

I am revamping my resume for a FANCY JOB (tm). I hate to say this, but I'm excited and hopeful. This is all on this for now.

Congrats to my bettie on her boy-child. He is a cutie. Oh yes.

Blarg

Husbands and wives should live in the same country. In fact, the same house even. This would eliminate that whole them leaving each other at the wee hours of the morning.

Not to mention only five hours sleep is not enough to feel like one can manage the next day. I'm just feeling like I lack the tools for today.

*sad sigh*

Productive Lunch Hour!

Two work-mates and myself went out and walk/ran the hill today for lunch. I used to know the measurement of that distance - but I can no longer remember. Somewhere in the 2.5km range. But I can't remember if that is one way or return.

*doh*

All in all, we made it from the office across the parking lot, down the path, down the hill, back up the hill, etc in about 53 minutes. We probably ran over half - but I ran more going down than coming back up. It is a KILLER hill and I'm wobbly and feeling amazing now.

Just going to eat my sandwich Jim sent with me to work (he feeds me breakfast and coffee each morning and sends me to work with a lovely homemade lunch - because he is the best husband ever).

:)

Is'n'it Ironic?

I'm teaching a class about current popular culture. We discuss all the shows, movies, ads, magazines, radio, internet, etc...

The one thing I've lost since starting this crazy schedule with the work during the day, class two full nights a week, prep and marking other nights? Yes, that's right. Gone is all my time to watch tv, movies, read, surf blogs, etc...

But I think it is okay. Many students still comment on a regular basis that I know more about TV and stars and the internet than anyone they've met. They continally comment about me knowing all these shows they've never heard of before. They say it in awe. They like how I can tie it in with random tidbits of feminist theory. I have finally found that space where my love of trivia over Paris and American Idol and my insane catalog of facts about Buffy is held in high regard.

Come, let us build a lifetime in this space. Where I and my trivia can be rich.

In other news - Hugs to my bettie who is having her baby. Much love, m'dear!

Happy Birthday to Me!

It has been a very nice birthday week! Jim and Leone gave me the dinner. Mom and dad sent me an amazon gift certificate with which I am thinking of getting Serenity plus other stuff. I got many emails from parents and Mellys (Mellies?). The one from my mom made me get all teary. Very sweet! I took an extra 30min on lunch and met Jim at Earls for birthday pizza goodness. My office wrote my birthday on the board so everyone gave me well wishes (and one lady got me a card). And Nerdgirl started a birthday post on the WD and I got many hugs there!

Whoo!

Downside - working until 9pm as I teach tonight (and started at 8am as the office is on summer hours 8-4 so this feels very late).

Other downside - apparently the airconditioner thingy at the uni is busted. It got up to 30 in the office today. I am now stinky and glowing in the other office. I may teach outside tonight.

*pant*

They say it should be repaired by mid-june. I KID YOU NOT.

Okay, I'm off to get some outside before class.

Ohhhh, Looky Here!

I had a great weekend. Leone, Jim, and I had my birthday celebration as I'll be working late on my actual birthday. Jim made us Filet Mignon and asper-grass. We then follow it up with the cake from the great cake place with the real whipped cream on the sides and marzipan on the top. Fresh strawberries between the layers. YUM!

Then we had presents and Leone got me the Serenity comic that fills in between the end of the series and the movie! She also got me some beads to make a necklace as I'm wanting this one that I saw at the store but thought Leone could make a much nicer version of it.

The kitties found this all very exciting. Especially as Jim and I bought them fancy canned kitty food for the evening as well. Everyone had treats!

Here is Chuck looking on with interest.

Can you tell what Jim got me for my birthday?

IT TOTALLY ROCKS!!

He saw how much insane fun I had with his camera on our honeymoon, so Jim got me my very own digital camera. It has 12x optical zoom, 5 megapixels, and looks really cool (I have the silver version). So far I have taken 61 pictures of various things all over my house. Including many many pictures of the kitties! I [heart] my camera. I also really [heart] my husband.

And to top it all off, then Jim and I snuggled and watched the first hour of the second Anne of Green Gables movie.

Happy Birthday to me!

End of Overtime.

Thank you baby jesus.

Last night we were here until 11:30pm and then back in 8am this morning. The LIST has gone out for graduation. Good. Done. Can I leave now?

It is 1:30 pm and I am walking into door jams. I just need to get home, have a shower, quick nap, and then I pick up Jim at 4:30. Tomorrow will be another long day as I teach from 6-9 after work, but there is something comforting knowing the weekend is mine. And I have about 55 banked hours now to do with as I please. And I think I please to get that as a payout to fund some kind of reward.

Hmmm, I'm too tired to think of a reward - but maybe some new hair colour and someone to make my toes all pretty and a few new outfits or something. List your reward ideas here!

Time Time Time, See what's become of meeee...

Short time.
  • These past few weeks. They are just blurring together into one long, but quick (?) week. No, I don't actually know what that means. But what I do know is that my overtime is going to end on tuesday which is becoming very necessary! The ending of it. I don't do overtime well.
  • The time until Jim arrives. That is wednesday - and again with the thank goodness of the shortness. Married people need to be together. New rule in my world.
  • Until my birthday! Yay! Nine more days and then I get presents. And I've been asked for a list. I think all I could think of was some time to lie on the couch. Not sure how one wraps that.

Long Time.

  • Since I've seen my husband. This is silly and needs to be fixed (see above).
  • A three hour night class. That is a long time. It is challenging to keep things moving - although the second class went much better. Active learning requires a certain amount of work and information on the student side. A first class with no readings and nobody knowing each other - challenging. I know now why those first classes sometimes just have to be cut shorter. But yeah, the second class was vibrant and interactive and certainly in the range of what I'm wanting to strive for over the next weeks.
  • Since my last visit to the gym. I'm going today after overtime is done (3pm). I managed to get there on Sunday and Monday of last week, but that was it. This makes my pants sad. I will go again tomorrow after work and try to feel okay with at least 2times/week.

Short time - my coffee break. All done for now!

Giddy-Up

Heading out in 20min to teach my FIRST CLASS since many many moons. I have time to gather up my stuff, apply a little lip gloss, fluff my hair, pee (again) and get down across the campus.

I have my class planned and printed. A little intro, a little info on me, icebreaker, break, brainstorming session, little lecture on critical thinking, in class exercise, little discussion, set up for the next class and the next few weeks... and that should be the night. We have just under 3hrs, but I think we'll skip the second break and end a little early.

*bounces*

Okay, talk to you all later.
